In the year 2000, during the Hope of God Singapore family camp, 3 young Filipino nurses have been called to bring the Hope Movement in Leeds, United Kingdom. Sister Lorisa and Gemma arrived in Leeds on September 2000 and later joined by Sister Marilyn on November in Bradford.
In 3rd week of November 2000, our first care group was started with 5 people at Lincoln Towers, Lincoln Green Leeds. They continually meet together every week for fellowship and leaders traveled to London twice a month to attend the Church Sunday service with Hope of God London.
On June 2001, Sister Rachel from Hope Singapore arrived in Leeds and supported the church. Continually praying and encouragement received from Pastor PK of Hope London, our first Sunday service was started on 12th of August 2001 at Gledhow wing Seminar Rm. St. James University Hospital with 20 people attended. We held our Sunday service once a month. On our first year anniversary 40 people attended and we started to do our Sunday service twice a month. Our care group continues to grow with Filipino professional, International and Family care group.
On August 2004, Brother Roger was appointed to be the Church Leader of Hope of God Leeds. Our Sunday service was now held weekly with the help of Pastor Pk who oversee the church. We also have our first Hope Leeds Family Camp on December 2004. The church continues to grow with different nationalities and colors joining us in fulfilling the vision.
On 24th September 2006, Pastor PK from Hope London appointed Brother Roger to be the Pastor of Hope of God Leeds. People are encouraged and extended their support as we continue to fulfill Jesus great Commission.
On 24th December 2006 we had our Christmas service @ St. Philip’s Hall, Osmondthorpe Lane Leeds and later on January 2007 became our new Church venue. More people committed to the vision of the church and joined us on this fruitful year. Harehills care group was also established. We also started the quarterly Empowerment Night where we experienced God’s presence and power as we pray together as a church.
At present, our Sunday service caters for an international mix welcoming members and visitors from other countries. We also had our own website www.hopeleeds.org created by Bro. Ronald. Bro. Fernando also started the Youth group where they are equipped with the word of God. There is also the children church to take care of the little friends of Jesus!
This year 2008, as we celebrate our Church 7th year Anniversary: PRESS ON… 3G (GO, GROW, GLOW) is a reminder for us to persevere to commit to the vision Jesus Christ has given us in Matt. 28:19-20. May we will continue to run the race to win the prize God has installed for us. God bless.
